LI: To find and summarise the story behind the poem
The ship sat still with no wind or waves near. His sails were hungry for action but received no wind. The rapid waves flowed calmly, gently over the inchcape rock. They sunk and rose recklessly, but never shook the bell. Abbot of Abethorok placed the bell on the inchcape rock. The warning was heard as the rapid waves got furious. The rock was hidden, but the mariners heard the bell, As they realized this rock was a dangerous rock. The sun was shining bright, bringing joy on that day, as the sea-birds sang, while they circled around the rock. The buoy had been seen, but was a darker speck. Sir Ralph the rover, walked his deck to the bell. When he saw the buoy he felt excited and cheerful. His heart was excitement but the rovers mirth with wickedness. He demanded his men to immediately put out his boat. He yelled we shall row towards the menacing inchcape rock.
Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was when the pirate named Sir Ralph Rover cut the inchecape bell and had to go back and cursed himself by crashing into the rocks because this tought all of us to keep to ourself and things can fly back at you because of your actions.
I found this activity fun because we got to learn a moral which is leave thing alone before it fly right back at you and we got to learn about the history around the inchcape rock.
